Armstrong Clan Association Gathering
16-18 June 2023
You will have no doubt noticed that registration for the whole event closed on 31 January and the Crown Hotel at Wetheral is now fully booked for accommodation. The Sunday tour to Netherby Hall has a number of available spaces but the Saturday Armstrong Reiver Trail is full with a waiting list. The main event of the evening will be the dinner on the Saturday evening at the Hotel.
If there is any member who would like to arrange their own accommodation and be a part of the Dinner on the Saturday evening you would be welcome. The cost would be £30 per member. You are also invited to attend the ad hoc meet and greet on the Friday evening. Closing date for this would be 31 May with full payment for the dinner.
If you are still kicking yourself for not getting on earlier and booking the whole weekend you are advised to put your details on the waiting list in case there is a late cancellation.
Attendees will receive information directly through their group leaders' email addresses. For general queries

PROGRAMME
Friday 16 (evening) “Meet and greet” at The Crown for drinks and introductions.
Saturday 17 (day) A coach trip to some of the key the historical sites central to the lives of Armstrongs and other reiver ancestors in the turbulent border region. This is primarily offered to new attendees. Adam Armstrong is an experienced tour guide finalising the planning. Those who have attended before may wish to visit other sites on Saturday (or Sunday) and Adam and Nick are able to offer suggestions if you need some ideas.
Saturday 17 (evening) The main event, the Gathering Meal (or banquet as some have called it). We don’t have the menus for this yet as the new Spring/Summer menu comes out in the New Year. This is the highlight of the weekend and provides a wonderful opportunity to get together and spend time with our Armstrong kin! This is certainly the time for you to dress up with your tartan!
Sunday 18 The coach tour today will be centred on a trip to Netherby Hall including a guided tour and lunch. https://netherbyhall.co.uk/a-history-of-netherby-hall/
Netherby has a fascinating history, ancient and recent, and is the ancestral home of a fellow reiving family, the Grahams. Adam will also have interesting stories and history to share on the short trip to and from the hall.
The cost of the Gathering meal is £30.00 per person. Some of you will want to “do your own thing” during the days and join the larger group for the evening. The cost of the tours and other incidental costs are yet to be finalised. Based upon our costings so far it is likely to be in the region of £50.00 per person on Saturday, which will include entrance to Gilnockie Tower. Sunday is looking like around £65.00 including buffet lunch and entrance to Netherby, including a guided tour. However costs continue to rise so this is a guide only.
